Luv2Answer asked:

I have heard on the news numerous times and watched interviews with people who “can’t get coverage.” Turns out that a lot of these people are eligible for and have access to very inexpensive catastrophic insurance with a high deductible. It would cover ER, cancer, heart attacks, major illnesses, surgeries etc. but it won’t cover a trip to a doctor for a cold or something like that.

I’m sorry but to me that IS insurance coverage. I’m so tired of people wanting everything for free. My tax dollars shouldn’t go toward paying for health care for someone who doesn’t want to pay their own way and will abuse the system.
David – If insurance pays “only” 80% of someones bills that might go into the millions then you honestly believe that “it’s not worth having insurance.”? Are you serious? Where else can you receive a million dollars worth of services for $20,000?

Boston health insurance

jasonthejedi asked:

I’m quitting my job on October 24th (with a large employer) and am starting a job on the 27th. I won’t have insurance with the new job until November 1. This means my insurance will end at midnight on the 24th with Company A and begin at midnight on the 1st with Company B. That’s one whole week for those who can’t do math. However, I’m an extremely low risk person. Is it possible to get COBRA retroactively if something were to happen that one week? I ask because I don’t want to pay COBRA for one month, but I’d be more than willing to pay the price if something catastrophic (God forbid) were to happen that week.
I’m pretty sure termination of employment is covered by COBRA. I gave my two weeks. I’m not getting fired on the 24th.
Thanks for all the input so far! And yes about the midnight thing. I checked with HR and they told me it would end at midnight on my last day of employment. It’s pretty sad that they would do that even though I am leaving on good terms and have been with them for 6 years. However, it just adds one more reason as to why I don’t want to work for them anymore.

MA low cost self employed medical insurance

Freedom4 asked:

(1) Insurance by definition is the transfer of risk from one party to another for a premium.

(2) If people did not have to get insurance until something catastrophic happened then nobody would and insurance would not be a transfer of risk. it would be the most expensive medical payment system in the world. No healthy people would have it.

(3) They do make a profit, but profit drives efficiency. Without it there is no driver for efficiencies and that is why if you take two identical businesses, one is run by the govt and one is run in the private sector, it costs the private sector 1/3 as much to run it. That si where the profit comes in and why the government should leave more up to the private sector.

(4) You liberals claim that people are just getting kicked off insurance as soon as they get sick, but that is very rare. If insurance companies got a reputation for doing so, then the free market would kick in and nobody would use that insurance company. I know my work would drop a company at the drop of a hat if they found out someone was refused payment for something that should have been covered, or was dropped.

MA high deductible health insurance

Miss Nail School asked:

I was recently hand picked for a job as a *VISTA for the Americorps Youth Venture program (affiliated with United Way). It sounded great…helping 12-20 year olds make a goal and achieve it. I’d be in charge of doing that for an entire community! That’s a lot of 12-20 year olds! I was ready to take this job until I found out that it pays 700 bucks a month and offers only catastrophic insurance…no preventative check ups with the doctor or dental cleanings. That didn’t seem so bad because I could get a job on the side and buy my own insurance, right? Wrong! They then told me that I could NOT have another job while being a *VISTA. I told them I didn’t want the job and now they want me to keep going with the interviews and see how I feel later. They keep reminding me of the networking benefits, etc. They simply won’t let me say no! I REALLY don’t want this job and there’s no changing my mind, so how do I tell them NO GET OFF MY BACK without sounding exaclty that rude?
It may sound crazy, but the networking benefits don’t really outweigh the fact that I’ll be in debt so deep by the time I’m done serving as a *VISTA. PLUS, I want to do nails…I don’t really need to network. I was told by the Vice-President of this organization that since this organization was actually started to help end poverty, they believe that the *VISTAs should live at poverty level. I’m a former college student! I know what living at poverty level is like and i don’t want to live at that level anymore! The whole reason I graduated is so that I could get a good job and NOT have to live like that anymore! My family, friends and I find it a little wired that they’re offering a job at poverty level. Well, there’s a lot to comprehend here, so PLEASE HELP!
The reason they gave em for not bein able to have a weekend job is “that I will have one foot in the college campus and one foot in the community so I need to be available to both at all times” STUPID!?

MA self employed health insurance

MFlo asked:

I am 18 years old, and I am moving to California from Massachusetts next month (without my parents). I am under my own (not my parent’s) health insurance here in Massachusetts. I do have some health problems, so I will need health insurance as soon as I get out there. Is there any way I can apply now so that I will be covered as soon as I move? Also, I am completely illiterate in government jargon, so I don’t know (or understand) anyyy thing about their health insurance. Can anyone help?

Boston health insurance
