The same scenerio happened to one of my friends. She turned down a job because "it didn't feel right" and they called her and convinced her to take it. She thought that since they wanted her so badly, it must be the best job for her. Well, after the first week, she knew she had made a mistake and should have listened to her gut. It took a few more weeks before she was out of that place because they wanted her to give 2 weeks notice since she "would be leaving them in a bad spot". She was miserable for a month!!!! And she had passed up other opportunities to take that job.

The lesson here is listen to your heart. Tell them in a stern way, thank you but you have decided that it's not the right move for you at this time but you appreciate all their efforts. Leave them feeling good about wanting to hire you. And then don't look back or second guess yourself.

I don't know, honestly. There may very well be a requirement that all insurers cover pre-existing conditions (including diabetes) but there's no guarantee of price controls. There may also be some form of subsidy to help with the health care costs. If Obama is able to push through his universal coverage (honestly, it's a tall order, even with a Democratic Congress), you'll probably benefit.

What I'd really love to see is some form of preventative clinic that is government-funded and that provides vaccinations, basic health screening (respiratory and ear infections, early detection of cardiovascular problems, etc), basic treatment (antibiotics, insulin), and counseling (diet, exercise, etc). Diabetes can be very affordable if managed effectively, which means that the diabetic needs access to medication and materials on how to control it. It's when care is denied or neglected that conditions become major problems - something my mom saw alot as a nurse in an emergency room when a diabetic patient would come in with a raging case of hyperglycemia and gangrenous sores on the feet.

I've never heard such a thing. If you don't want this job, you don't want it. No one has the rights to make you take it. There are plenty of jobs out there for you to take.

Most states are "at will" states when it comes to job unless you signed a contract with them. That means they can fire you for any reasons as well as you can quit anytime you please.

Everyone knows there is a God, except for fools.
Psa 53:1 [[To the chief Musician upon Mahalath, Maschil, [A Psalm] of David.]] The fool hath said in his heart, [There is] no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: [there is] none that doeth good.

It is not that they will not let you decline. It is simply that they are pressuring you to accept. You need to weigh all the factors without the pressure and determine if this is the correct path for you. If it is not, then say no.

You may need to get firm but always remain professional. Let them know you appreciate their consideration and are honored at them thinking you would do a good job for them. However, you have thought of all the advantages and disadvantages and have determined that this is not for you.

If they persist, keep telling them no and that you would appreciate them stopping the incessant pressure. You have no obligation to continue with the process or additional interviews. They are not going to kidnap you and force you to go.

That 5000 goes to your health insurance of your choice no matter what city it is in. Or you can pay out of your own pocket and join Obama's plan.

hmmmm Government pays for my health insurance or I have to pay my own???

Educate yourself as to Barack Obama's ACTUAL proposed policies, and then come back and ask that question again.

Next time it will sound more like a statement though: 'WHEN Obama is elected, my diabetic wife and myself (self-employed) WILL be able to afford healthy insurance'.

The reason noone will insure your wife is because insurance companies only exist to make money for the rich. If they had to actually pay out premiums - then they would only be able to afford one summer home. They lobby the government constantly.
